“Education means not letters or numbers. A child could learn letters and numbers from a book and get through his exams. He can even obtain dozens of various degrees. If a child obtains all that and yet, if the world does not receive a child who is aware of merits and demerits, and who is willing to gather merits, and has a fear to commit sins, it is the misfortune of the child as well as the world. Therefore, today, you have to thoroughly remember, that you have taken this responsibility of giving the world a child, who is willing to gather merits and who has a fear to commit sins. You have to bring him up as a “True Human Being”. Today, in this society, there are human beings with barbaric qualities. Therefore, you should nurture this child so that he doesn’t become a violent person in the society”
At the beginning of the Holy Apostolic Father’s General Audience which was held on 9th October 2010, the little son of Mr. & Mrs. Nilnuwan Bandara was taught to write his Alphabets by the Most Holy Apostolic Father. His Holiness the Apostolic Father was the first to teach the child to write his Alphabets. After he was taught to write his Alphabets, the Most Holy Apostolic Father, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso, reflected the above brief Homily, when he addressed the parents of that child.
