It is not a secret that the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ, has time to time appeared in the world. At every occasion she has appeared, she has not failed to deliver a message, requesting people in the world, to recite the Rosary.
Our Beloved Blessed Mother, who has appeared at several places in the world, is presently appears in Sri Lanka and delivers messages. She has chosen Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine, for her appearances in Sri Lanka. The Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine is situated right opposite at the turn off to the Air Force Camp at 20th mile post junction, on Colombo- Negombo main highway.
So far, she has appeared in this Shrine for 23 occasions, and at the 23rd occasion, she has promised that she will appear once again in this Shrine. At that occasion, she has also declared that she will show Powerful Glorious Signs to the people who are gathered at the moment when she arrives. Her next arrival is scheduled to take place at Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine, during a Liturgical Celebration. Therefore, devotees who participate in the Liturgical Celebrations at this Shrine are eagerly anticipating her impending arrival. During previous appearances at Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine, Blessed Mother Mary has shown several Live Signs to the people who had gathered, and she has also cured those who were suffering from various ailments.
The Most Holy Apostolic Father, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso, is the person who is fortunate to see the Blessed Virgin Mary. Every Saturday, at 4.00 pm in the evening, he comes before the people and celebrates Special Liturgical Services. The Apostolic Blessing, which he gives, has become a powerful blessing to the people. They come to Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine on Saturdays from various places. Blessed Virgin Mary helps them wonderfully. She cures people who are suffering from ailments. She also helps people who have lost all hopes in life as well as people who are suffering from pains and sorrows. Their lives have been enlightened after they received help and graces at Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine. Several Miracles have been taken place at this Shrine Ground and Several Miracles are also currently taking place at this Shrine Ground.
Whenever the Blessed Virgin Mary appears at Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine, she has stressed the importance of reciting the Rosary and also through several messages which she has delivered at Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine; she has also requested people to recite the Rosary.
“CONSOLE MY HEART. IF YOU WISH TO CONSOLE MY HEART, AND IF YOU ALSO WISH TO DEFUSE THE FLAMES OF SORROWS IN MY HEART, RECITE THE ROSARY FREQUENTLY AND WRAP MY HEART THROUGH THAT FLOW OF COLD WATER OF THE ROSARY TO DEFUSE THE FLAMES OF SORROWS IN MY HEART”.
The Blessed Virgin Mary who had described that the reciting of the Rosary was like cold water defusing the flames of sorrows in her heart, has declared the following at an another appearance.
“FOR THE CONSOLATION OF MY IMMACULATE HEART, RECITE THE ROSARY, RECITE THE ROSARY. I COULD EASILY INTERCEDE NOT ONLY IN THIS WORLD BUT ALSO IN THE PURGATORY FOR THOSE WHO RECITE THE ROSARY, IN FAITH, WITH DEVOTION”
At another appearance, she has given a promise to those who recite the Rosary at Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine.
“I PROMISE TO GRANT PEACE TO FAMILIES WHO RECITE THE ROSARY, DAILY”
During another appearance at Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine, she has declared the following.
“BY RECITING THE ROSARY, SATAN’S POWER COULD BE DESTROYED. LIKENING TOWARDS SIN COULD BE DISTANCED. PEACE COULD BE RECEIVED”
Likewise, she has declared the Value, Power and the Glory of the Rosary. “The Rosary” is the “Most Favourite Prayer” of Blessed Mother Mary. She likes very much to hear the recitation of “Hail Mary” from our mouths. Therefore, whenever we recite the Rosary, “Hail Mary”, is the prayer, which we recite most number of times. Whenever we recite the Rosary, we have to recite Hail Marys’ for 53 times.
The modern society is seems to be distancing itself from the recitation of the Rosary, which is the “Most Favourite Prayer” of the Blessed Mother. In response to the request of Blessed Mother Mary, and for the Glory of the Rosary and to console her, and also to make the society, once again, aware of the Holy Rosary, the recitation of the Holy Rosary to the Blessed Mother, was proudly conducted in the evening of 15th January 2011, at Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine.
The recitation of the Holy Rosary was presided over by the Most Holy Apostolic Father. Devotees, who arrived at the Shrine from various places, took the Rosaries into their hands and recited the Rosary along with the Most Holy Apostolic Father.
At the recitation of the Holy Rosary, 53 candles were lit to symbolize the 53 Hail Marys’ which is recited, during the recitation of the Holy Rosary. Candles were lit at the spot where Blessed Virgin Mary appeared and the Most Holy Apostolic Father, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso, offered the Rosary to the Blessed Mother along with the devotees and the pilgrims, at a place which was very close to the spot where Blessed Mother appeared.
Rosaries were seen not only in the hands of the Christians, who converged at Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine, but also in the hands of those who have faith in various other religions. Everybody who gathered recited the Rosary to the Blessed Virgin Mary, devotedly. We have to mention here very specially, that the “Christians, who had never touched a Rosary, for their whole lives”, bought new Rosaries on that day and got those blessed by the Holy Apostolic Father and offered the Rosary to the Blessed Mother, devotedly.
