“As an Apostle, Chosen and Appointed by Lord Jesus Christ Himself, I have endured heaps of bitter experience because I have declared the Truth which Lord Jesus Christ has preached to the world. I have got used to these bitter unpalatable experiences over a period of more than 3 decades. I have also spent more than half of my present journey of life to endure all these bitter experiences because I have declared the Truth which Lord Jesus Christ has preached. All the Apostles who were living in the world before me has left this world with painful bitter experience because they have declared the Truth which Lord Jesus Christ has preached, This situation developed into a dangerous position where the Apostles had to face not only with death but also with pains of their death since they were brutally murdered” The Most Holy Apostolic Father, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso reflected the above during the course of his Homily which he delivered when he addressed the devotees and the pilgrims who converged in Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine on Saturday 14th February 2009.
Addressing the devotees and the pilgrims who converged in the Shrine Ground up to the entrance to the Apparition Church, the Most Holy Apostolic Father further elaborated that the Apostles have shown by sacrificing their lives that the love of Lord Jesus Christ is stronger than hatred and affliction which were aimed at them because they have declared the Truth which Lord Jesus Christ has preached and as an Apostle of Lord Jesus Christ he also always think and feel that the love of Lord Jesus Christ is stronger than hatred and affliction which are aimed at him because he has also declared the Truth which Lord Jesus Christ himself has preached and that an Apostle does not find a way to sacrifice his life. Nevertheless, due to the loyalty to Lord Jesus Christ an Apostle is always ready to sacrifice his life.

“John the Baptist came to the world, As the person who came to the world to make a straight path for Lord Jesus Christ. He repented himself for his own sins, to make the world devoid of people who commit sins and to guide them to live a new meritorious life. John the Baptist could be considered as the first person who testified on behalf of Lord Jesus Christ. He surrendered himself not to the rules of the world but to the Truth”.

“Dear Children, if a person has testified truly on behalf of the path of the Doctrine which Lord Jesus Christ has shown to the world, the life of that person did not become a life without falling prey to the oppressions and harassments. John the Baptist who could be considered as the first person who testified on behalf of Lord Jesus Christ was a person who fearlessly revealed the Truth. He was a person who testified for the Truth without surrendering himself to anybody. He had to sacrifice his own life due to the reason of publicly criticizing the sins of Herod and Herodias which they have committed against the commandments of God. The immense service which we could render to Lord Jesus Christ is to declare the Truth. For that reason John the Baptist sacrificed his life”.
