On 14th May 2011, the Office of the Liturgical Celebrations of the Holy Apostolic Father announced that a Thanksgiving High Mass, which will be presided over by the Most Holy Apostolic Father, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso, the Son of the Late Mrs. Margret Aponso, will be celebrated on 2nd July 2011, to commemorate the 1st Death Anniversary of the Late Mrs. Margret Aponso, the loving Mother of the Holy Apostolic Father, who has gained Entry into Heaven, and to thank God for presenting her the Eternal Life in Heaven.
Mrs. Margret Aponso, the loving Mother of the Holy Apostolic Father, was called to Eternal Rest in the Lord on 26th June last year, after completing 90 years of life in this world. Her mortal remains were kept in the Shrine of Our Lady of Katunayake for the public to pay their last respect, and in the evening of 29th June, her Body was laid to rest in the General Cemetery of Katunayake, after the funeral service, which was presided over by the Most Holy Apostolic Father.
Subsequently, His Holiness the Apostolic Father has got to know that his loving Mother who passed away, has truly, gained Entry into Heaven, and in the meantime, 4 persons have also experienced 6 miracles under her influence.
Therefore, the Holy Apostolic Father, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso, requested the permission from the Judiciary to exhume the Body of his loving Mother, from the General Cemetery of Katunayake, and to bury it in the Shrine Ground of Our Lady of Katunayake.
Accordingly, for the 1st time in Sri Lanka, the Judiciary gave permission for a request of this nature, and permitted His Holiness the Apostolic Father, to exhume the Body of his Mother, from the General Cemetery of Katunayake.
Consequently, this Mother’s Body, which was buried 3 months ago, was exhumed on 23rd September 2010, and It was indeed, amazing to see the Body of the Mother of the Holy Apostolic Father after 3 months of its burial, because the Body of the loving Mother of the Holy Apostolic Father, which was buried 3 months ago, has not been incorrupt, even after 3 months of its burial. This unique happening was telecast over the television news segments in leading headlines, as a Rare, and the First Ever incident of this nature, in the history of Sri Lanka.
The Incorrupt Body of this Mother, who has gained Entry into Heaven, is now, placed in the Apostolic Tomb, in Sts. Peter and Paul Garden of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine.
The Late Mrs. Margret Aponso, who has gained Entry into Heaven, was not only the Mother who gave Birth to an Apostle, but also had presented her wealth to her Son, His Holiness the Apostolic Father, so that the Holy Apostolic Father could live in this world without burdening anybody. Devotees who come to Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine are also reaping the results of her gift.
The 1st Death Anniversary of the Late Mrs. Margret Aponso, who has gained Entry into Heaven, falls on 26th June 2011. A Thanksgiving High Mass for her Heavenly Life will be celebrated in the evening of Saturday 2nd July 2011, in the Apparition Church of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine. The Thanksgiving High Mass will be presided over by the Most Holy Apostolic Father, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso.
A Gold Reliquary containing the Hair of the loving Mother of the Holy Apostolic Father, who has gained Entry into Heaven, will be proudly presented to the Most Holy Apostolic Father, at the Thanksgiving High Mass, which will be celebrated on 2nd July 2011.
The communiqué which was issued by the Office of the Liturgical Celebrations of the Holy Apostolic Father, further states that at the conclusion of the Thanksgiving High Mass, arrangements will be made for the devotees to go near the Tomb of the Late Mrs. Margret Aponso.
