At several occasions when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in the Apparition Church of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine, she has stressed the need to recite the Holy Rosary.
She appealed to the world on 27th July 1977, through Holy Apostolic Father, to pray the Rosary. When she appeared on that day, she declared the following words. “ FOR THE SOLACE OF MY IMMACULATE HEART, RECITE THE ROSARY, RECITE THE ROSARY” Along with those words, she declared these words also to the world, to show the power of the Rosary. “ I COULD EASILY INTERCEDE, NOT ONLY IN THIS WORLD, BUT ALSO IN THE PURGATORY, FOR THOSE WHO RECITE THE ROSARY, IN FAITH, WITH DEVOTION”.
Not only this, at another few apparitions also, she has revealed to the world, through the Holy Apostolic Father, that her wish is not only to show the power of the Rosary, but also that she greatly wishes, to see the Rosary being recited.
Therefore, to draw the people more and more, for the devotion to the Rosary, His Holiness the Apostolic Father, proudly, prays the Rosary with the people at various occasions. The uniqueness of these occasions is not only Christians, but also non Christians pray the Rosary, along with the Holy Apostolic Father, by holding the Rosaries in their hands.
On Saturday 21st May 2011, the Most Holy Apostolic Father, along with the people, proudly, prayed the Rosary to the Blessed Mother, in the Apparition Church of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine.
People arrived at Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine, from various places to pray the Rosary. They prayed the Rosary, in candle light, along with the Holy Apostolic Father, at the Feet of the Statue of Blessed Mother Mary, without any religious differences.
