How far the love that we have for Blessed Mother is reliable?
In what manner the Blessed Mother thinks about the love and affection that we have towards her?
Most Holy Apostle, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso raises these questions!
“My Dear Children, we should associate Blessed Mother considering that she is Our Mother. Certainly, she was given to us, as Our Mother, by our beloved Lord Jesus Christ. She is extending her love to the children of this world without considering their race or religious differences. She loves all the children. The question is whether we are honestly raising our love to her. Our love always runs to her, only when we are in difficulty. We invite Blessed Mother, only when we are in difficulty. We remember Blessed Mother, only when we are in difficulty. Yet, whenever we do not have a difficult situation or whenever we do not want any help or whenever we do not need anything, we will not remember Blessed Mother. Therefore, whenever we are in difficulty, we are compelled to chase Blessed Mother to request her help”
The Most Holy Apostle, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso, reflected the above on Saturday evening, 5th October 2013, at Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine.
The Holy Apostle reflected the above when he delivered his Homily at the Rosary Vespers, which was conducted on that day, before the Statue of Blessed Mother, placed in the Shrine Ground of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine for a period close upon to 30 years was removed from the location where it was placed.
The Homily of the Holy Apostle was based on the 1st Miracle that Lord Jesus Christ has performed at the wedding in Cana. At the beginning of his Homily, the Holy Apostle reflected the following.
“There is a reference in the Holy Bible about the Blessed Mother. The Holy Bible is the book that has been translated into many languages of the world. A reference has been made in the Holy Bible about our beloved Blessed Mother, whom you could see today, from a statue. An incident involving the Blessed Mother is recorded in the Holy Bible. In the Holy Bible, in the Gospel of St, John, at the beginning of its 2nd chapter, Apostle John, reminds us about one of her great virtuous quality. Even though there are 4 Gospels in the Holy Bible, written by 4 evangelists, yet, Apostle John is the only evangelist who has made a reference about this incident”.
Devotees who arrived from various places, converged before the Statue of Blessed Mother, placed in the Shrine Ground of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine. Addressing all of them, the Holy Apostle further reflected the following.
“We could see that the couple who married in Cana has had some kind of friendship with the Blessed Mother and her son Jesus Christ. They have had some cordial friendship with the Blessed Mother and her son Jesus Christ. That is why Dear Children, this newly married couple, invited this mother and son for their wedding ceremony. But even though they invited them, they didn’t expect anything from Blessed Mother and her son Jesus. They invited them due to that friendship, as if they are inviting an ordinary mother and son. This mother and son attended their wedding due to that friendship. At the wedding house Blessed Mother saw the unexpected difficult situation they are facing. But this couple did not request Blessed Mother to help them in their hour of need or did not even request her to inform her son to help them. Yet, the Blessed Mother came forward to help them without any request because she knows about her son Jesus and she knows who her son is. Therefore, she came forward. She thought to request her son to help this newly wedded couple who invited her. My Dear Children, at this point only her virtuous quality surfaced. If we understand this quality, then, we could learn a great lesson in this evening, at this Sacred Ground, where Blessed Mother has stepped in. Therefore, Dear Children, if we keep a cordial connection with the Blessed Mother like this newly wedded couple and if we also keep the mother and child connection with the Blessed Mother, then, we don’t need to ask anything from her. I know this very well. We don’t need to tell any of our difficulties to the Blessed Mother. She will definitely, look after us. Did that newly wedded couple request anything from the Blessed Mother? They associated Blessed Mother and her son Jesus with a good heart, without expecting any personal gain. Therefore, they invited them for their wedding ceremony. That is why both of them went there. That is why this mother and son attended their wedding. They saw this difficult situation because they went there. At the wedding house Blessed Mother saw the difficult situation this couple, who has won her goodwill and who is closely associating her is going to face. She saw they are going to face an unexpected situation. Then, she took immediate action to save this couple from this difficult situation”
This Statue of Blessed Mother, placed in the Shrine Ground, has won the hearts of the people devoid of race or religious differences. On that day, devotees converged before the Statue of Blessed Mother devoid of race or religious differences. Addressing all of them, the Holy Apostle, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso, continued his Homily, by reflecting the following.
“Our beloved Blessed Mother is looking at us ceaselessly. Today, some people carry the Rosary whenever they travel, but some won’t do that now. Today, even though, certain children who are affectionate to Blessed Mother forget the Rosary, yet, they are not forgetting their cell phone. Likewise, the Rosary is not a jewel to keep in the pocket and if you don’t recite that Rosary, then it is, just an invaluable rusted chain”.
Finally, before concluding his Homily, the Holy Apostle, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso, raised these questions.
“Dear Children, the Love that Blessed Mother has towards us is the Love that we could mostly trust. But how far the love that we have for Blessed Mother is reliable? In what manner the Blessed Mother thinks about the love and affection that we have towards her? Today, in this evening, I keep these questions at your feet”.
