The Most Holy Apostle, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso celebrated the Christmas Mass on the colourful podium, erected in Holy Apostles Peter and Paul garden of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine on 24th December 2013. At the beginning of his Homily which he delivered at the Christmas Mass, the Most Holy Apostle raised few questions about Christmas.
“Does the Heaven rejoice about Christmas because of the amount of electric bulbs that burn in the world to celebrate Christmas, or does it rejoice about Christmas because of the brightness of new cloths that people wear for Christmas, or does the Heaven rejoice about Christmas because of the worldly way the Christians getting ready to celebrate Christmas?”
The Most Holy Apostle, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso, raised these questions at the beginning of his homily which he delivered at the Christmas Mass. Addressing devotes, the Most Holy Apostle further reflected the following.
“Every Christian should truly repent. Repenting means, not to commit the same sin again and again and not to repent again and again and commit the same sin. What do you hope to tell at the moment of death and at the moment when the world coming to an end, when you have to face the Judgment of Christ? Are you going to tell, Oh Lord! I am a sinner? Then do you know what position Christ will allocate you? By committing sins again and again, Christians should not tell Christ “Oh Lord! I am a sinner”. That should not be the role of Christians. By doing that don’t make devils in hell happy. As it was in the first Christmas, make Angels in Heaven happy”.
In the cold Christmas night, various denominations of people arrived even from faraway places at the Shrine of Our Lady of Katunayake. Among them were non-Christians who were reverently attending the midnight Christmas Mass of the Holy Apostle.
During the course of his Homily, the Most Holy Apostle, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso further reflected the following.
“Christmas is the Feast that enlightens Christians to come out of the Darkness. They should truly repent for the sins they have committed to obtain Heaven. They should receive liberation, the Baby Jesus brought to this world at the first Christmas. The Angels in Heaven will sing and the whole Heaven will rejoice when a sinner, truly and honestly repent. That is the true Christmas. That is the Christmas, where Angels will sing.”
During the course of his Christmas Homily, the Most Holy Apostle emphasized that the responsibility to repent truly, lies on each and every individual and each and every individual should determine to bear that responsibility, individually, and they should take a decision on this Christmas day itself.
