The newly sculptured Statue of Jesus on the Cross was blessed by His Holiness Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso, on Saturday evening 17th September 2016, at the Apparition ground of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine.
This 9-foot-tall Statue of Jesus on the Cross was blessed by the Most Holy Apostle with duly respect amidst the presence of devotees who converged at the Apparition ground of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine from various places.
His Holiness Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso, who arrived at the Apparition ground from the Apostolic Residence passing Holy Apostles Peter & Paul garden, first of all walked towards the Statue of Jesus on the Cross. Subsequently, when he came before the Statue, the officials of the Apostolic Security Division folded the huge curtain that was covering the newly sculptured Statue of Jesus on the Cross, and made the Statue visible.
The Holy Apostle, dressed in red colour vestments and wearing the red colour Apostolic Mitre, was silently looking at the Statue of Jesus on the Cross for a while and subsequently, offered prayers silently, and raised his arms and blessed the Statue amidst the singing of appropriate hymns for the occasion.
