Our Most beloved Blessed Mother Mary had made a request when She appeared before His Holiness the Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso. She had further declared that this request is Her desire. Her request was to build a Church at the precise place, where She had appeared in Sri Lanka, and to dedicate it in her name.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Katunayake is the Only Shrine in Sri Lanka, where the Blessed Mother Mary had appeared. The Blessed Mother had so far appeared in this Shrine for 23 occasions. His Holiness the Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso, who had not only seen the Immaculate Blessed Mother at these Appearances, but who was fortunate to receive the opportunity exceptionally, to converse with Her as well, is living in this Shrine even today.
This Apparition Church of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine, where Lord Jesus Christ had also appeared, had been refurbished by now, to fulfill the request of the Immaculate Mother Mary. It is ready to be handed over to the Mother of God shortly.
A Life Size Statue of our beloved Blessed Mother Mary was positioned on the face of the newly refurbished Apparition Church, situated in front of Negombo – Colombo main road, on Sunday morning 15th October 2017.
Devotees were given the opportunity on Saturday 14th October 2017, the day before this Life Size Statue of the Mother of God was positioned, to pay their reverence to the Statue of Mother of God, after they participated in the ‘Miraculous Prayer’ at the Shrine of Our Lady of Katunayake as usual. A mother who had offered a request by inserting it into the ‘Red Box’ after reciting the ‘Miraculous Prayer’ and who had also offered a prayer before the Statue of Mother of God, by lighting a Rose Candle, was relieved to know her request had been granted instantly by the Mother of God. A six year old child, who was dumb and who had come with his mother began to speak by looking at the Statue of Mother of God, ‘Maa.. Maa … Amma…’ Many devotees are of the opinion that it is another sign which shows Blessed Mother Mary is very pleased with this beautiful Church that has been built, at the Most Miraculous Shrine of Our Lady of Katunayake.
