His Holiness The Apostle said that the Passion of the Lord Jesus Christ cannot be limited to one day of the year, though His birth can be limited to one day, His Passion cannot be limited to a day, declared His Holiness The Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso at Apostles’ Peter and Paul Garden of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine on 15th August 2020.
The Holy Apostle expressed that limiting or shortening the last part of Lord Jesus Christ’s life on earth to a few hours, and mourning about it is not the Christianity; He continued further saying that the Christianity is beyond that, and the Passion of Christ should remain in our hearts for three hundred and sixty-five days a year.
The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament was officiated by His Holiness The Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso. Devotees from all over the island gathered in Holy Apostles’ Peter and Paul Garden for the occasion.
Further addressing the assembled devotees, The Holy Apostle said that, when we deeply concern the life of our Lord Jesus Christ He lived in this world, we are saddened by His Passion, bringing back memories of that tragedy each year even after more than two thousand years ago; and as Lord Jesus Christ does not belong to any church, the Christians from different denominations go to Jerusalem where Calvary is located; therefore no one can claim and own the Lord Jesus Christ because He belongs to the whole world, to all mankind; hence no one can say the Lord Jesus Christ belongs only to me, or only to our denomination or only to our group, hence the Lord Jesus Christ belongs to everyone.
His Holiness The Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso, who delivered His Homily for nearly an hour, expressed that it is not a problem that some people can start an organization, a church, or a society for the Lord Jesus Christ, but it should not be forgotten that the Lord Jesus Christ belongs to all, and if that is forgotten, the Holy Apostle said, such people will make mistakes, and may even get into trouble.
His Holiness The Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso further stated that the faces of many Christians are as bright as Christmas when they are near the Silver Star mounted at the place where the Lord Jesus Christ is said to have been born in Bethlehem, and a few days later they go to Jerusalem, and near the Calvary where the Lord Jesus Christ sacrificed His life on the Cross, and then, as Holy Apostle has seen, they weep with the sad face of grief. The Holy Apostle further stated that Bethlehem or Calvary is not located in Sri Lanka but the Christians living in Sri Lanka do the same. The meat they eat on Christmas Day is not eaten on Good Friday and the meat not eaten on Good Friday is eaten on Christmas Day. Hence it should be questioned why they do so.
At the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, His Holiness The Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso imparted the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Prior to this, devotees lit red candles in front of the Blessed Sacrament and offered their reverence to the Blessed Sacrament.
The Holy Apostle explained here, with examples, that when the Lord Jesus Christ or an Apostle or any Spiritual Teacher guides the people through the Dharma, it is only the wise who can withstand it. A Spiritual Teacher will not withdraw any expression he makes saying it was an expression made mistakenly. A Spiritual Teacher speaks with good mindfulness and wisdom, they speak to the wise, and then those wise think intelligently and questions, no Spiritual Teacher in the world makes such an unanswerable expression as ‘they are mysteries’ or ‘we cannot understand them’.
