“Police is created through the dedication of Police Officers. Seeduwa New Police Station is the foremost hope of the people who are living in the Seeduwa Police Division. I bless the New Seeduwa Police Station which was constructed to fulfill this hope”. The Most Holy Apostolic Father, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso, reflected the above in the evening of 11th January 2009.
The Holy Apostolic Father made these reflections at the opening ceremony of the New Police Station in Seeduwa. Buddhist, Christian, Muslim and Hindu religious rites were also organized at this opening ceremony and the Christian religious rites were presided over by the Most Holy Apostolic Father, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso.
At the blessing rites of the building complex of the New Seeduwa Police Station, the Most Holy Apostolic Father reflected that the history of the Seeduwa Police Station goes back to several decades and he also remembered with gratitude all OICs and all Police Officers who held various positions and who dedicatedly upheld the law and order in the Seeduwa Police Division throughout that period. Holy Apostolic Father also granted his blessing to all of them.
Speaking further at the opening ceremony the Most Holy Apostolic Father reflected that he will also grant his blessing to all Police Officers who performed their duties during the journey of the Seeduwa Police Station as well as to all Police Officers who are now working in various Police Divisions who have dedicated their energy to the people in the Seeduwa Police Division to live in peace and harmony. Reflecting further the Most Holy Apostolic Father said that he will also pray to God on behalf of all Police Officers who worked in the Seeduwa Police Division who are retired now and will request God to grant good health and long life to them as well as to the souls of all departed former Police Officers who worked for the well being of the people in the Seeduwa Police Division.
During the course of his address, the Most Holy Apostolic Father further reflected that at this moment he remembered with gratitude all former IGPs of Sri Lanka who steered their personnel to uphold the law and order in the Seeduwa Police Division and that he will also grant his blessing to them as well as to all DIGs, SSPs, SPs and ASPs who accordingly carried out those advices for the well being of the people in the area. Reflecting further the Most Holy Apostolic Father said that today is a Golden Day for the Seeduwa Police Division and despite the fact that the New Police Station was opened with heart filled fresh hopes, the New Police Station is the seat of the law and order in the area.
The Most Holy Apostolic Father, His Holiness Rohan Lalith Aponso also granted his blessing to the OIC of the Seeduwa Police Station, Chief Inspector Mr. Saman Sigera and to all personnel of the Seeduwa Police Station who are presently performing their duties day and night to uphold the law and order in the area and for the well being of the people in the area. Holy Apostolic Father also granted his blessing to the IGP Mr. Jayantha Wickremaratne who directs them, and also granted his blessing to DIG Mr. K. P. P. Pathirana, SSP Negombo Division Mr. P. S. K. Vithana and to all SPs and ASPs.
“Police is created through the dedication of Police Officers”. Therefore, the Most Holy Apostolic Father wished strength and courage to the OIC and to all Police Personnel in the New Seeduwa Police Station and also granted his blessing to their parents and to their families and further reflected that people usually come to a police station either in sorrow, either in pain, either in fear or with regret, and the only consolation for them are the police personnel who are performing their duties day and night not withstanding sun and the rain, who consider those sorrows and fears as their own. He also wished strength, courage and good health to all Police Personnel who are working in the Seeduwa Police Division.
The Most Holy Apostolic Father also further reflected that despite the fact that it is a Golden Day for the Seeduwa Police Division it is also an occasion of a sad moment because the OIC of the Seeduwa Police Station, Chief Inspector, Mr. Saman Sigera who has dedicatedly performed his duties along with his personnel throughout the construction of the new building complex and who has guided his personnel as a father would, for the last 6 years and upheld the law and order in the Seeduwa Police Division is leaving after receiving a transfer. Therefore, the Most Holy Apostolic Father said that he will pray that Mr. Sigera will be able to perform his new responsibilities successfully.
Continuing his reflections the Most Holy Apostolic Father further said that he will grant his blessing to the newly appointed OIC of the Seeduwa Police Station and to all police personnel who are performing their duties under his guidance. Reflecting further the Most Holy Apostolic Father said that he will also pray for the soul of his good friend, Late Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle who died unexpectedly and reflected further that Mr. Fernandopulle was the pioneer behind the construction of the New Police Station in Seeduwa and that he has even spent his personnel wealth for it and was anxiously hoping to attend this occasion.
