“As parents, happiness is the most important gift you must bestow upon your child. Be aware at all times, and check if your child is living a happy life. The primary reason for happiness for any child is not things such as delicious meals, toys or nice clothes. Their main source of happiness is to see their father and mother living a happy life. The child who sees their parents constantly arguing and fighting will suffer a mental breakdown, which will affect their future entirely. Most parents enroll their children in tuition classes as soon as they start schooling. However, they forget that the child learns a lot of things from the school called “home”, and that the most ideal teachers of theirs also live at home. The child’s father and mother are their best teacher. They are not two separate teachers as father and mother, but one.”
His Holiness the Apostolic Father Rohan Lalith Aponso stated as such at the occasion where the eldest son of Mr & Mrs Ranga and Sanduni Perera of Ja-Ela, Nirmith Methsara was taught the first letters of education as commencement to his schooling.
On the 24th of July 2023, the occasion for the reading of the first letters took place at the Apostolic Hall of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine with the blessings of His Holiness the Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso, with the presence of the child’s parents, as well as his grandmother and younger sister.
Addressing young Nirmith Methsara’s parents, His Holiness the Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso also stated as such:
“Every child yearns to learn from birth. This is why they start asking questions the moment they start to speak with disjointed words. Why does that happen like that, why does that happen, they ask hundreds of thousands of questions like that because they have started to learn. These questions and the answers the parents give to them, is where the development of the child’s intelligence begins”
“Today is the 24th of July 2023. We are now in the 21st century. In this time I see that parents bear a heavy cost to educate their children. Parents who can’t afford to spend a lot, their hearts weep. Because of this demand that exists in the society, education today has turned into a type of business. As a result of this, good schools and bad schools, rich schools and poor schools, schools that teach and schools that don’t teach, schools have been categorized as such”
His Holiness the Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso first placed His Holy Apostolic Hands on the child’s head, and then stated the first letter of the Sinhala and English alphabets, and the number 1 while holding the child’s hands as a loving father would hold their son close and educate him.
Once He had recited the first letters as such, the Apostolic Father once again placed His Apostolic hands on the child’s head and blessed him. The Apostolic Father then presented gifts to young Nirmith Methsara and his younger sister, and further stated as such to their parents.
“This child will now turn to education and start his school journey in a few days. A lot of parents living in today’s society do not know the true reason why a child should be given an education. Nor do they know how the child should be educated. A lot of parents think that if the child is immersed in books all day long, that that is education.”
“A lot of parents think education is only in books. Education is the complete lifecycles of all human beings. The end of education is in fact the end of life. The schooling and tuition that parents think is education, is only a part of life.”
Young Nirmith Methsara’s parents Ranga and Sanduni was also married and brought into the new life path of marriage by His Holiness the Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso, on the 17th of January 2019. It is most noteworthy and a blessing that their firstborn’s teaching of the first letters was also conducted by His Holiness the Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso on the 24th of July 2023.
