His Holiness Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso proudly conducted the evening Solemn Vespers, on Saturday evening 17th September 2016, at the Apparition ground of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine to bless the Most Sacred Cross of Lord Jesus Christ.
The Most Holy Apostle, who arrived through the people who converged at the Apparition ground of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine from various places, first of all blessed the 9-foot tall Statue of Jesus on the Cross, while the hymns were being sung.
Subsequently, the Most Holy Apostle arrived at the main podium to officiate the evening Solemn Vespers. The Homily that was reflected by the Holy Apostle at this evening Solemn Vespers was in two parts. The main theme of His Homily was focused on Simon from Cyrene, who assisted Lord Jesus Christ to carry the Cross in his journey to the Calvary. It was remarkable that the Most Holy Apostle reflected the 1st part of His lengthy Homily in a standing position, and the 2nd part, while he remained seated.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Katunayake where Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared is a widely known Shrine that helps people to fulfill their intentions in a most miraculous way. Out of the devotees who converged at the Shrine of Our Lady of Katunayake on this day, many of them were holding their request letters in their hands. Hence the Most Holy Apostle permitted them to refer their request letters to the Most Sacred Cross and to offer a prayer and subsequently, the Holy Apostle blessed all request letters.
At the end of the evening Solemn Vespers, the Most Holy Apostle imparted His Apostolic Blessing, and subsequently, venerated the Most Sacred Cross. The Holy Apostle also permitted devotees to venerate the Most Sacred Cross.
