“All parents should understand the disparity between a home and a hostel. To keep a child in a hostel is like bringing up an animal by feeding artificial food. There is no taste and no healthiness in such foods. Therefore, a child should not be given an education; glorified by such words as ‘higher education’ or ‘good education’, by keeping a child in a boarding house or a hostel.”

His Holiness The Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso, reflected these golden words, on the occasion of reading of the first letter in the alphabet to little Sanoshi Aradhaya – the first born child of Suren Chaturanga Fernando and Sugandhika Perera, laying the foundation for the child’s school education.

This occasion took place in the Apostolic Hall of Our Lady of Katunayake’s Shrine, on 6th January 2018.

His Holiness The Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso addressing the parents also reflected as follows.

“A child should be fed with food cooked by mother’s own hands and not food cooked in a hotel or a hostel. Food cooked by the mother should be given to the child to taste the maternal love. That taste is not there in a food cooked by a hotel or a hostel. Such foods have only a ‘business taste’, which is a ‘tasteless taste’.”

Those golden words, reflected by His Holiness The Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso, addressing little Sanoshi Aradhaya’s parents are very important to all parents in the world, when we look at the happenings in the current day society.

His Holiness The Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso, elaborating further reflected,

“The best and the highest school for a child is a school which is close to the child’s home which he/she can reach in a short time. Child should be able to see the Mother who is toiling on the child’s behalf. Child also should be able to see the Father who is working hard to keep the ‘bread on the table’, on his/her behalf. A child should feel the sweet smell of sweat of the Father, who is sweating on his/her behalf. A child should be able to get a good idea and understand the home-front issues faced by parents. A good education is hidden inside this veil. Therefore, a child should never be boarded in a hostel any day”.
